Ghanaian comedian and actor Dr Likee has addressed the conversations surrounding the outfit he wore to the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), saying the look was part of a deliberate strategy to draw attention to his upcoming comedy performance at the O2 Indigo in London.

Speaking in a video circulating on social media, the comic actor admitted he anticipated public reactions once he stepped onto the Red Carpet but insisted he was unfazed by the criticism.

According to Dr Likee, the unusual outfit served as a promotional tool for his show, stressing that creating buzz is part of the entertainment business.

He explained that the attention generated online was beneficial because it helped increase awareness about the event.

The actor also clarified that his fashion choice was not entirely out of character, revealing that he naturally enjoys wearing shorts because he finds them more comfortable.

While reacting to the backlash, Dr Likee urged his supporters not to insult or attack people who mocked his appearance.

He appealed for calm among fans, saying criticism and public debate are normal in showbiz.

He further stated that entertainers often gain more visibility when people talk about them, whether positively or negatively, adding that controversies sometimes help keep celebrities relevant in the public eye.

Dr Likee maintained that he was not bothered by the comments about his appearance and believes discussions around celebrities are part of the industry’s culture.
