Ghanaian comedian Funny Face has shared a troubling account of his stay at a psychiatric hospital, claiming the experience negatively affected his mental well-being instead of helping his recovery.

Speaking during an interview on Joy Prime, the comedian explained that adapting to life at the facility became emotionally challenging as he tried to connect with other patients to gain their trust.

According to him, many of the patients were only comfortable around people they believed understood their situation.

“You don’t have to make them think they are mad.

For you to get their trust, you need to act as if you understand them,” he stated.

Funny Face recalled that some patients shared personal stories and offered advice, while others behaved in ways he found difficult to process.

Narrating one particular incident, he said a patient once invited him to eat fufu despite not actual food.

“One guy said, ‘Funny, let’s eat fufu.’ There was no fufu, just the ground, and he was eating it. So in my quest to make them know that I understood them, I joined him,” he recounted.

He added that nurses at the facility began to view him as mentally unstable because of how closely he interacted with the patients.
