Ghanaian fashion commentator Charlie Dior and singer Gyakie have sparked widespread online debate following comments made about the artist’s outfit at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) Red Carpet.

Gyakie appeared at the event in a sparkling blue crystal-embellished gown paired with a matching headpiece, a look that quickly became one of the most talked-about fashion moments of the night.

During his Red Carpet review, Charlie Dior criticised the outfit, describing it as poorly coordinated and questioning the design direction.

He also drew attention to certain elements of the look, which he likened to a “decorative mosquito net,” remarks that triggered mixed reactions online.

The comments divided social media users, with some agreeing with his critique while others defended the singer’s appearance and praised her bold fashion choice.

Following the criticism, Gyakie appeared to respond indirectly by sharing photos of Charlie Dior in outfits that some social media users also described as questionable, a move many interpreted as a subtle clapback.

Supporters of the singer argued that Dior often critiques celebrity fashion while himself being subject to similar public scrutiny.

Gyakie later clarified that her Red Carpet appearance was inspired by the artistic concept behind her “After Midnight” project, noting that the design was intended to reflect a deeper visual identity rather than conventional styling expectations.

Despite the controversy, the outfit also received praise from fashion enthusiasts and entertainment followers, with many describing Gyakie as one of the standout best-dressed celebrities at the event.
