Reggae star Gramps Morgan honoured with traditional title in Ghana
Celebrated Jamaican-American musician Gramps Morgan has been recognised with a traditional leadership title by the authorities of the Ga State during a ceremony held in Accra.
The award-winning reggae figure was officially welcomed upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport, where traditional leaders and dignitaries received him.
During the ceremony, he was formally enstooled and given the stool name “Nii Oyein Mp3s3 I,” the development chief marking his new role within the Ga traditional authority.
Images and videos circulating online show the artist dressed traditionally as he took part in the rites, symbolising his acceptance into the cultural leadership system.
The honour is said to recognise his global influence and his role in promoting cultural exchange, particularly his growing connection with Ghana.
Morgan’s visit coincides with preparations for the upcoming Ghana-Jamaica Homecoming Festival, an initiative aimed at strengthening ties between Ghana and Caribbean nations through music, culture, and tourism.
