An Adenta Circuit Court has directed three students to each pay GH¢4,000 in compensation to a teacher they attacked, in addition to signing a two-year bond to be of good behaviour or risk serving a prison term.

The individuals involved are Hassan Bashiru and Mohassan Bashiru, both of Frafraha Community Day Senior High School, as well as Mustapha Sani, also known as “Dady,” an okada rider and student whose school was not identified.

The compensation is to be paid to Nicolas Teye, a Social Studies tutor at West Africa Senior High School (WASS), who is the complainant in the case.

The trio were initially charged with conspiracy, unlawful entry onto school premises, and assault. Hassan Bashiru faced an extra charge for causing harm after allegedly hitting Mr Teye on the head with a stick, which led to him losing consciousness.

According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Maxwell Lanyo, the incident occurred on February 13, 2026, when the accused persons went to WASS during school hours to visit their girlfriends.

Mr Teye reportedly asked them to leave the classroom, but they resisted until he and other staff members forced them out.

Later that day, the three returned—this time on motorbikes and a bicycle—confronted the teacher, and physically attacked him.

Mr Teye was subsequently treated at the Pantang Government Hospital and was advised to undergo an MRI scan due to the seriousness of his head injuries.

The suspects were arrested on February 16, 2026, and admitted to the offences in their caution statements.

During court proceedings, they changed their pleas from not guilty to guilty.

The court thereafter imposed the fines, ordered compensation, and placed them under a behavioural bond, cautioning that failure to comply would result in a two-year jail sentence.
