Defence officials, Education Minister inspects National Defence University construction site in Teshie
Deputy Defence Minister, Ernest Brogya Genfi, and defence officials led the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrissu to undertake an inspection of the construction site for the National Defence University at Teshie, as work progresses on the strategic military education project.
The visit formed part of efforts to assess the pace of construction and ensure that the project is being executed in line with required standards.
The National Defence University is expected to serve as a premier institution for advanced military training, research, and strategic studies, aimed at strengthening Ghana’s defence capabilities.
When completed, the facility will provide specialised education for military personnel and other security professionals, while also supporting policy development and national security research.
During the inspection, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong, reviewed ongoing works and interacted with project engineers to evaluate progress and address any challenges affecting delivery timelines.
Authorities emphasised the importance of completing the project on schedule to enhance capacity building within the security sector.
The establishment of the university is seen as a key step in modernising Ghana’s defence infrastructure and aligning military training with global standards.
The project is also expected to contribute to knowledge development and regional cooperation in defence and security studies
