The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has officially handed over multiple project sites across the constituency for the construction of key educational infrastructure valued at over GHS41 million.

The projects, funded through the Ghana Education Trust Fund, are expected to significantly improve access to quality education and enhance learning conditions in schools within the district.

At a brief ceremony held at various project locations, Dr Apaak emphasised that the initiative forms part of his broader commitment to strengthening the education sector in Builsa South and addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits affecting teaching and learning.

The scope of the projects includes the construction of a two-storey Builsa South District Education Directorate office complex in Fumbisi, a three-unit classroom block with auxiliary facilities at Bachonsa, and a kindergarten block with ancillary facilities at Zamsa.

Other components of the initiative include the construction of two-storey dormitory blocks for both boys and girls, as well as a three-bedroom headmaster’s bungalow at Kanjarga Senior High School.

Additionally, a six-unit classroom block will be built at Nadema-Luisa, alongside a three-unit classroom block at Kanjarga Nyansa.

Dr Apaak noted that these projects are expected to ease pressure on existing facilities, reduce classroom congestion, and create a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

“These investments are critical to improving educational outcomes and ensuring that our children have access to quality learning environments,” he stated.

Beyond infrastructure, the MP disclosed that arrangements have been made to supply over 400 mono desks to schools across the district in the coming weeks.

The intervention, he explained, is aimed at addressing the persistent shortage of furniture in many basic schools.

The Builsa South District Director of Education, Richard Akum-Nyemi, expressed appreciation to the MP for his continued support of the education sector.

He highlighted several interventions by Dr Apaak over the years, including the consistent provision of desks and support for school infrastructure, which he said have contributed to improving teaching and learning conditions.

Mr Akum-Nyemi further expressed optimism that the completion of the ongoing projects will lead to a noticeable improvement in academic performance across the district.

“We are confident that these projects, when completed, will significantly enhance the quality of education delivery in Builsa South,” he added.

The projects are expected to be completed within 12 months, according to the contractors overseeing the various sites.

The site handover ceremonies were attended by the Builsa South District Chief Executive, Anne Musah; the District Director of Education, Mr Akum-Nyemi; contractors; and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Chairman Caesar Akinkang. Other officials from the district assembly were also present.

Residents and stakeholders across the constituency have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major investment in the future of education in Builsa South.

Many believe that the projects will not only reduce congestion in classrooms but also improve accommodation for students, particularly at the senior high school level, thereby creating a more enabling environment for both teaching and learning.

The intervention, stakeholders say, reaffirms Dr Apaak’s commitment to transforming education in the district and building a stronger foundation for the next generation.
