Interior Minister engages Netherlands Fire Chief to boost Ghana’s fire safety capacity
The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has held talks with the Chief Fire Officer of the Netherlands, Johan Tuitert, as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s response to fire outbreaks, particularly in markets.
The meeting, held in Accra, brought together key stakeholders including Ghana’s Chief Fire Officer, Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, to explore areas of collaboration aimed at improving fire safety systems across the country.
Discussions focused on capacity building, training, and the sharing of best practices to enhance the effectiveness of the Ghana National Fire Service.
Mr Muntaka emphasised the importance of equipping Ghana’s security services with modern tools and expertise in line with global technological advancements, while expressing appreciation for the partnership with the Netherlands.
He noted that the collaboration is expected to generate practical recommendations to help address recurring fire outbreaks and safeguard lives and property, particularly in commercial hubs.
The Minister stressed that the engagement forms part of broader efforts by the government to improve emergency response systems and protect livelihoods across the country.
