Energy Minister in a meeting with stakeholders

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has held a strategic meeting with key stakeholders in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector to align priorities and refine plans for the industry’s development.

The meeting brought together major institutions, including the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, the Petroleum Commission, the Office of the Attorney-General, and the Ministry of Finance.

Discussions centred on strengthening Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector, improving the fiscal and regulatory framework, and promoting sustainable growth across the industry.

A key issue highlighted during the engagement was the need to attract increased investment to counter declining petroleum reserves.

Stakeholders emphasised boosting exploration and production activities as critical to maintaining the sector’s long-term viability and contribution to the economy.

The Minister expressed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would translate into concrete actions aimed at building a more resilient and progressive upstream petroleum landscape.

According to him, the engagement forms part of the ongoing efforts by the government to reposition the sector and enhance its role in Ghana’s economic development.
