GA/R: Residents lament dust pollution on Adenta–Dodowa road project
Scores of residents living along the Adenta–Dodowa road in the Greater Accra Region have expressed growing frustration over excessive dust generated by ongoing construction works on the stretch.
According to the residents, the situation has become unbearable, with thick dust affecting daily activities, road visibility, and public health.
A resident who spoke to Classfmonline described the conditions as dangerous, particularly for motorists and vulnerable groups with underlining health conditions.
“This is what we suffer on the Adenta–Dodowa road every single day,” the resident said, adding that the contractor has failed to consistently water the road to suppress the dust.
The resident further alleged that in instances where watering is done, it is limited to sections where construction work is actively ongoing, leaving other parts of the road heavily affected.
“It’s really dangerous for driving and our health too. Very bad,” the resident lamented.
The situation has raised concerns about compliance with safety and environmental standards on road construction projects, with residents calling on authorities to ensure that contractors implement adequate dust control measures to protect both motorists and nearby communities.
