GMet warns of widespread thunderstorms and rain across southern Ghana
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued an urgent weather alert warning of significant thunderstorm and rainfall activity currently impacting several parts of the country.
According to the latest update, rain-bearing clouds have developed over the coastal and middle sectors, leading to ongoing localized thunderstorms and rain.
Affected Regions
The Agency has identified the following regions as the most likely to experience the impact of this weather system:
- Greater Accra Region
- Volta Region
- Central Region
- Western Region
- Eastern Region

GMet has cautioned that these thunderstorms are likely to be accompanied by strong winds, which pose risks to residents, temporary structures, and property. The Agency is advising the general public to:

In Accra, current conditions are reported as a heavy thunderstorm with a temperature of 30°C (feeling like 34°C). Wind is currently blowing from the south at 7 mph, and there is a 62% chance of ongoing precipitation. The daily forecast for today predicts scattered thunderstorms with a high of 31°C.
