Ghana Armed Force confirms 21 arrests after deadly Binduri ambush

The Ghana Armed Forces has announced that the number of suspects arrested in connection with the attack on a military escort convoy at Binduri in the Upper East Region has increased to 21.

The latest figure comes after the military earlier confirmed 11 arrests following the incident.

The attack occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, when armed men opened fire on a convoy escorting approximately 140 civilians travelling from Bawku to Bolgatanga.

The assault resulted in the deaths of three civilians, while another person sustained injuries.

Speaking to Class News, the Acting Director General of Public Relations for the Ghana Armed Forces, Captain (Navy) Veronica Adzo Arhin, confirmed that the suspects are currently assisting the police with investigations.

She indicated that security operations are still ongoing as authorities work to apprehend additional persons connected to the attack, describing the situation as fluid.

Captain Arhin further disclosed that seven of the attackers were killed during a gun battle with military personnel.

She also warned against attacks on security officers carrying out official assignments, stressing that such actions unnecessarily endanger lives.

According to the Armed Forces, collaboration with other security agencies is continuing to restore calm in the area and prevent further violence.
