Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has introduced an online verification system to help individuals and institutions check the authenticity of gazettes and reduce the circulation of fake ones.

The system allows the public to verify whether a gazette is genuine without having to visit GPCL's offices.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Monday, October 19, 2026, the Managing Director of GPCL, Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq., said the initiative forms part of the company's efforts to address the problem of fake gazettes.

He explained that GPCL had already taken steps to tackle the issue, but the introduction of online verification would make it easier for the public to identify genuine gazettes.

Previously, individuals and institutions had to contact or visit GPCL to confirm the authenticity of gazettes. With the new system, they can now carry out these checks online.

Gazettes are official government publications used to announce important information, including government notices, appointments and other matters required by law.

Their authenticity is therefore important, particularly for institutions and individuals who rely on them for official purposes.

The Managing Director also announced that GPCL is making gazette publications available online, allowing the public to check what has been published and when.

He noted that this would help address disputes over the dates on which certain notices were published, including election-related publications.

The move is expected to make it easier for the public to access official information and verify documents presented as Ghana Gazettes.

The initiative forms part of GPCL's ongoing efforts to use technology to improve access to its services.
