Ghana High Commission urges vigilance ahead of planned protest in Pretoria
The Ghana High Commission in South Africa has advised members of the Ghanaian community to exercise heightened caution ahead of a planned demonstration in the city.
In a notice issued on behalf of the High Commissioner, Benjamin Quarshie, the mission urged Ghanaians to prioritise their personal safety, particularly in Pretoria, where a group identified as the March Organisation is expected to stage a protest at the Presidency over immigration-related concerns.
The High Commission specifically advised Ghanaian shop owners to close their businesses for the day and avoid areas where demonstrations are expected to take place.
Community members have also been cautioned against participating in public gatherings that could escalate into confrontations, and to maintain a low profile in both physical and online spaces.
The advisory further urged individuals to avoid sharing content that could be considered provocative or inflammatory, especially on social media platforms.
The High Commission assured the community that it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
