LGBTQ+ issues not a priority for Ghanaians — Kwakye Ofosu
The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that LGBTQ+ issues are not a major priority for Ghanaians, emphasising that government remains focused on key socio-economic concerns.
Speaking on The Pulse on April 7, 2026, he said the issue does not rank among the top concerns of ordinary citizens, arguing that most Ghanaians are focused on work, earning income and meeting daily needs.
“This is not a major issue. It’s another waste of time,” he said, adding that the debate does not reflect the realities of everyday life for many people.
Mr Kwakye Ofosu maintained that government priorities are aligned with the needs of citizens, including job creation, education, healthcare, food security and access to water.
He also referenced the position of John Dramani Mahama, noting that while there may be external pressure on LGBTQ+ matters, Ghana’s focus must remain on the welfare of its people.
He criticised the emphasis placed on the issue by political opponents, insisting it does not represent the most pressing concerns of Ghanaians.
