MUYAD urges calm ahead of Supreme Court ruling on Wesley Girls’ case
MUYAD Social Services, a Non-Governmental Organisation(NGO) has called on Ghanaians to remain calm and uphold national unity ahead of an anticipated Supreme Court ruling on a case involving religious expression at Wesley Girls’ High School in the central Region.
In a press release issued on April 20, 2026 and signed by Adnan Adams Mohammed, the Executive Director appealed to citizens across all religious, ethnic, and political backgrounds to maintain peace and decorum as the country awaits what it described as a landmark judicial decision.
MUYAD emphasised that the case should not be viewed as a confrontation between religious groups but rather as a test of Ghana’s democratic maturity and commitment to coexistence.
The group urged the public to respect the authority of the Judiciary, noting that the Supreme Court of Ghana remains the final arbiter in legal matters.
It also cautioned religious leaders, social media commentators, and influencers against engaging in provocative rhetoric that could inflame tensions, calling instead for responsible and measured public discourse.
MUYAD further stressed the need to prioritise the well-being of students at the centre of the case, highlighting the importance of maintaining a stable and inclusive educational environment.
The organisation encouraged Ghanaians to celebrate the country’s religious diversity and preserve its longstanding tradition of interfaith harmony, regardless of the court’s eventual decision.
It also called on security agencies to remain vigilant while exercising restraint, and urged the public to respond to the ruling with maturity.
MUYAD reaffirmed its commitment to promoting social cohesion and supporting policies that protect the rights of all citizens, noting that national peace must remain paramount
