The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has announced plans to embark on an industrial action in protest against the implementation of the Publican AI customs valuation system, which it says is disrupting trading activities across the country.

In a statement issued on April 10, 2026, and signed by its President, David Kwadwo Amoateng, TAGG warned that the system has had “catastrophic” effects on importers and traders despite ongoing engagements with government and relevant authorities.

According to the group, the Publican AI system has led to excessive and unsustainable duty assessments based on what it described as flawed automated valuations.

It also cited persistent delays in cargo clearance, rising demurrage and rent charges, and the absence of a transparent appeals process for valuation disputes.

TAGG further questioned the legality of the system, alleging that it is being managed by Truedare Investment Limited, which it claims lacks the requisite expertise to handle such a critical national platform.

As part of its response, the group has initiated legal action against the relevant authorities and is demanding immediate government intervention.

It has also directed all importers, freight forwarders, and affiliated stakeholders to wear red armbands and participate in a nationwide industrial strike at all ports and entry points from Monday, April 13 to Friday, April 17, 2026.

TAGG is demanding the immediate suspension of the Publican AI system pending a comprehensive review, the restoration of transparent and predictable valuation practices, and the introduction of financial relief measures to ease the burden on traders.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to lawful engagement but warned that it would continue to defend the interests of Ghanaian businesses and the integrity of the country’s trading system.
