TTAG to demonstrate today over inadequate recruitment slots
The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has declared a nationwide protest involving teacher trainees and qualified teachers affected by the 2022–2024 recruitment backlog, raising concerns over the limited number of employment opportunities available.
The demonstration is scheduled for Friday, April 24, 2026, and will be held across all Colleges of Education, with participants expected to converge in Accra for the main event.
In a statement issued by its National Secretariat on Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Association explained that the planned action is driven by the increasing number of trained teachers awaiting placement and what it described as insufficient recruitment slots announced by the authorities.
TTAG indicated that the decision was reached after broad consultations and underscores the need for a more effective and inclusive approach to teacher recruitment.
The Association also assured that it has engaged the relevant security agencies to guarantee a peaceful and well-organised protest across the country.
It added that all 49 Colleges of Education are expected to take part, urging members to remain disciplined, united, and focused throughout the demonstration.
