Three member committee to investigate UTAG claims - Ministry of Education
The Ministry of Education has constituted a three-member committee to probe allegations raised by the University Teachers Association of Ghana, following concerns the group presented at a recent press briefing.
The move comes after UTAG issued a 14-day ultimatum on April 13, 2026, demanding the removal of the Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai, and his deputy, Augustine Ocloo.
In a petition addressed to John Dramani Mahama, the association accused the Commission’s leadership of exceeding its mandate, taking unilateral decisions, and adopting what it described as an overbearing administrative style.
In a statement, the Ministry indicated that the committee will be chaired by Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Apaak. Other members include K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Ministry, and Mahama Duweijua.
The committee has been tasked with examining the claims and presenting recommendations aimed at addressing the issues raised by UTAG.
