The Chief Imam of Axim in the Nzema East Municipality, Alhaji Abdul Abdullah, has urged Ghanaians, particularly Muslims, to use the Eid-ul-Adha celebration to promote peace, unity and national development.

According to him, Ghana continues to enjoy peace and stability compared to some countries within the sub-region, and citizens must work together to protect the harmony the country currently enjoys.

Speaking during Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Alhaji Abdul Abdullah called on Muslims to reflect on the true values of the festival, including sacrifice, obedience, love and peaceful coexistence.

He also advised Muslim youth to stay away from social vices that could negatively affect their future and society.

The Chief Imam cautioned against drug abuse, including marijuana smoking, armed robbery, prostitution and other criminal activities.

He noted that the growing involvement of some young people in crime remains a major concern for both community and religious leaders.

Alhaji Abdul Abdullah encouraged the youth to remain disciplined, focus on education and skills training, and obey the laws of the country in order to become responsible citizens.

He further appealed to parents to closely monitor their children and provide proper moral and religious guidance.

The Axim Chief Imam also called on political leaders, traditional authorities and religious groups to continue promoting peace and tolerance before, during and after the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations.

He wished Muslims a peaceful Eid-ul-Adha celebration and prayed for continued peace, unity and prosperity for Ghana.
