The Government of Ghana has announced that Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa will undertake a three-day state visit to the country from April 1 to April 3, 2026.

According to an official statement, President Mnangagwa is expected to arrive at the Kotoka International Airport at 3 PM on Wednesday, where he will be received by President John Dramani Mahama with full military honours. The ceremony will include an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces and a 21-gun salute.

Later that evening, President Mahama will host a State Banquet in honour of the visiting leader to celebrate the longstanding ties between Ghana and Zimbabwe.

The highlight of the visit will be bilateral talks between the two leaders at the Peduase Lodge, following a private tête-à-tête. The discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation in key sectors such as trade, tourism, agriculture, health, sanitation, anti-corruption efforts, and job creation.

The talks are expected to culminate in the signing and exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding covering areas of mutual interest.

As part of his itinerary, President Mnangagwa will tour the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant, where he will receive briefings on Ghana’s advancements in healthcare delivery and waste management technologies.

He will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to lay a wreath at the mausoleum of Ghana’s founding president, Kwame Nkrumah.

President Mnangagwa is scheduled to depart Ghana on Friday, April 3, with full departure honours at the Jubilee Lounge.

The visit is expected to deepen diplomatic and economic relations between Ghana and Zimbabwe while opening new avenues for bilateral cooperation.
