4 arrested over alleged assault linked to loan dispute at Ashongman Estate
The Ghana Police Service has arrested four individuals in connection with an alleged assault incident involving officials of Bill's Microfinance at Ashongman Estate in Accra.
According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the arrests were made as part of an ongoing investigation into a complaint filed by a resident, Hagar Emaser.
Police said the 42-year-old reported on March 13, 2026, that four men who identified themselves as officials of the microfinance company visited her residence to demand repayment of a loan she had taken from the firm. She alleged that the men assaulted her during the encounter.

Following the report, officers from the Kwabenya District Police Command arrested four suspects on March 14 to assist with investigations.
The suspects have been identified as Denis Wornyo, 38; Albert Amarh, 40; Ebenezer Amartei, 23; and Atsu Lawson, 27.
Police said caution statements have been taken from all four individuals, who remain in custody while investigations continue.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged victims of assault and other criminal offences to promptly report such incidents to the police to allow for swift investigation.
The command also advised individuals with disputes related to loan transactions or other civil matters to pursue lawful and peaceful avenues to resolve their grievances.
