A/R: Police suspect killed during an intelligence-led operation in Ejura
A suspected armed robber has been shot dead during a police operation in Ejura following an attempted arrest linked to a recent highway attack.
The deceased, identified as Osman Amadu, also known as “Manu,” was the target of an intelligence-led operation carried out by personnel from the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters on the night of March 18, 2026.
According to police accounts, the team initially operated in Atebubu before proceeding to Ejura in the Ashanti Region, where the suspect was believed to be hiding.
Authorities say the suspect had been identified as part of a robbery gang allegedly responsible for a shooting incident on March 14 along the Atebubu–Ejura highway.
In that attack, unknown assailants reportedly fired into a moving vehicle, leaving one passenger injured.
Police indicated that during the attempted arrest, the suspect allegedly drew a single-barreled gun in an effort to confront the officers.
In response, the police team discharged their weapons, hitting him.
He reportedly collapsed at the scene.
A search conducted on the suspect led to the retrieval of several items, including:

His body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue, where it is being preserved pending autopsy.
Police say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the suspected robbery gang linked to the highway attack.
The incident underscores continued security concerns along the Atebubu–Ejura corridor, where authorities have been intensifying operations in response to recent criminal activity.
