Notorious tramadol drug dealer busted at Nungua in Police operation
A notorious dealer in the illegal sale of Tramadol has been arrested in a joint operation by the Nungua Police Command and executives of the Nungua Lorry Terminal Welfare Committee.
The arrest followed intelligence-led efforts to clamp down on the growing abuse and distribution of the controlled drug within the Nungua enclave and its surrounding communities.
The breakthrough was made by a military officer identified as Sergeant Asare, who uncovered the location where the drugs were being concealed.
Upon discovering the hideout, the officer retrieved the illicit substances and alerted the police.
Shortly after the drugs were recovered, a suspect identified only as Morro Mohammed reportedly surfaced at the scene and claimed ownership of the seized Tramadol, leading to his immediate arrest.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Nungua Police Command for further investigations and possible prosecution.
Executives of the Nungua Terminal Welfare Committee commended the swift collaboration between security agencies and the terminal leadership, noting that the arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by the welfare to rid the area of drug dealers whose activities pose serious threats to public safety, especially their passengers.
Chairman of Nungua GPRTU, who is also a Senior Advisor to the Welfare Committee, Nii Akorsey Bortey II, spoke with Accra news’ Sir Samuel Thompson.
