Tema Oil Refinery refute claims it cannot process Ghana’s crude oil
The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has dismissed claims that it lacks the capacity to refine crude oil produced in Ghana.
Management of the refinery stated that the facility possesses the required infrastructure and technical expertise to process crude oil from the country’s oil fields.
According to TOR, assertions suggesting that the refinery cannot handle locally produced crude are inaccurate and do not reflect the refinery’s operational capabilities.
The management emphasised that the refinery has the facilities and technical competence necessary to refine crude oil extracted from Ghana’s petroleum fields, noting that TOR remains an important part of the country’s downstream petroleum sector.
The clarification comes amid ongoing public discussions about the capacity of the Tema-based refinery to process domestic crude and its role in strengthening Ghana’s energy security.
