Police arrest 3 in crackdown on robbery network in Akatsi
The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects following targeted operations linked to recent robbery incidents in Akatsi and surrounding areas.
According to police, the Special Operations Assistant to the Inspector-General of Police led the operation on April 21, 2026. The team first arrested Enoch Adoglo at Gavekope.
Further intelligence led officers to the outskirts of Gavekope, where Cephas Aniwaa, a blacksmith believed to be manufacturing and supplying weapons to the group, was also arrested. A third suspect, David Adzinu, was subsequently picked up.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of seven single-barrel rifles, five locally manufactured pistols, one revolver, 64 rounds of ACP ammunition, 11 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, four rounds of 7.62 x 51 ammunition, four live BB cartridges, 18 spent BB cartridges, three mobile phones and winding tools.

Police said further investigations have identified Mensah Kedzi as a key suspect linked to the robberies, including an incident on April 3, 2026. He is currently on the run along with other accomplices, including suspects identified as Akakpo, an ex-convict, and Ageh.
The police say efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects and ensure all those involved are brought to justice.
