The Ghana Police Service has intercepted 1,054 vehicles in the Greater Accra Region as part of an ongoing nationwide road traffic enforcement exercise targeting the unauthorized use of sirens, horns, strobe lights, beacon lights and other illegal vehicle modifications.

According to the Police, the operation forms part of a broader nationwide crackdown aimed at ensuring compliance with road traffic regulations and improving public safety on the country's roads.

The Service disclosed that 4,627 vehicles have been intercepted across the country since the enforcement exercise began on June 15, 2026.

Police stressed the exercise is focused on identifying and removing unauthorized warning devices and illegal modifications that pose safety risks and are often used in violation of the law.

The Police Service urged motorists to comply with road traffic regulations, warning that offenders will face the appropriate legal sanctions as the nationwide enforcement exercise continues.
