Suspect arrested over Spintex break-in; Police recover cash and valuables
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man in connection with a case of unlawful entry and stealing at Spintex in Accra, with several stolen items recovered during the operation.
According to police, the case was reported on March 4, 2026, after a resident returned home from work around 4 PM and discovered that her house had been broken into.
The intruders allegedly made away with cash amounting to GH¢1,000 and US$22,350, in addition to other personal belongings.
Following intelligence-led investigations, officers arrested the suspect, Daniel Odai Afotey, at Labone Beach on March 11, 2026.
A subsequent search of his room led to the recovery of the stolen money and several other items suspected to have been stolen.
These included gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones and a television set. See items here.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted to the offence and mentioned an accomplice known only as “Ewonam,” who is currently on the run. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest the individual.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Meanwhile, the police say they are working to identify the owners of the additional recovered items. Members of the public who may have lost property under similar circumstances within Spintex, Teshie, Nungua and surrounding areashave been advised to contact the CID Headquarters to assist with identification.
