WhatsApp messages never existed: Forensic report clears Achimota Senior Housemaster

A police forensic report has cast serious doubt on allegations that Achimota School Senior Housemaster, Mr. Emmanuel Hanson, engaged in “sextortion” involving a former student.

The allegations surfaced after a dispute over a confiscated mobile phone. According to information provided by Mr. Hanson through his lawyers, the device had been seized from the student, Ms. Hafsatu Osmanu, while she was still on campus, consistent with school regulations.

Following her graduation from Achimota, Ms. Osmanu contacted Mr. Hanson in late December 2025, requesting its return.

A subsequent call from her mother, Madam Daayimatu Abdallah, became heated and was followed by an audio message containing threats.

Mr. Hanson reported the threatening communication to the Achimota Police Station.

When the police invited Ms. Osmanu and her mother to assist with investigations, they produced printed screenshots purportedly showing WhatsApp messages in which Mr. Hanson allegedly demanded sexual favours. The screenshots later began circulating widely across social media and school-related online forums.

Seeking to verify the authenticity of the alleged messages, Mr. Hanson petitioned the Cybercrime Unit of the CID for a forensic examination of his device.

He voluntarily surrendered his phone to investigators. According to the CID’s report dated 11 March 2026, the forensic analysis determined that no WhatsApp conversation ever occurred between Mr. Hanson and Ms. Osmanu’s phone number.

The findings have raised significant questions about the origin of the screenshots that formed the basis of the allegations.

Mr. Hanson’s lawyer, Emmanuel Dei-Tumi Jr. of Kulendi@Law, stated that the report vindicates his client and that steps are being considered to address the reputational harm caused by the circulation of the claims
