Gov’t to recruit 7,000 teachers, 1,200 faculty members for tertiary institutions
The Ministry of Education has received approval from the Ministry of Finance to recruit 7,000 teachers across the country, prioritising those willing to serve in deprived areas.
The recruitment process, which will be open, transparent, and competitive, is expected to begin on April 10, 2026, with applications accepted from graduates of the 2023-2024-2025 cohort.
Additionally, 1,200 faculty members will be recruited for public universities, including the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, to address staffing gaps.
The government aims to decentralise the Ghana Education Service and improve education delivery, with a focus on infrastructure, learning resources, and teacher welfare.
Applications for the teaching positions will be accepted through the GIS application portal from April 10, 2026, with successful candidates expected to be onboarded by July 1, 2026.
