The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly in the Central Region, Seth Banini, has supervised a two-day exercise to evacuate a major dumpsite at the Kasoa New Market, in a move aimed at improving sanitation and reclaiming public space.

The operation, carried out over the weekend, is being described as a significant milestone in efforts to create a cleaner and more organised trading environment for residents and market operators.

Mr. Banini noted that the removal of the dumpsite addresses longstanding environmental concerns while restoring confidence among traders and the wider community in the Assembly’s commitment to development.

He explained that the intervention forms part of a broader strategy to support the government’s 24-hour economy agenda, particularly through the transformation of the Kasoa New Market into a modern commercial hub capable of sustaining round-the-clock economic activity.

The initiative is expected to boost trade, create jobs, and promote sustainable growth within the municipality.

The MCE commended sanitation workers and other stakeholders for their dedication during the exercise and urged the public to support ongoing efforts to maintain cleanliness and protect the gains achieved.
