Four BECE candidates nabbed for Exam malpractice at Accra Girls SHS centre
Four candidates sitting for the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been apprehended for alleged malpractice at the Accra Girls Senior High School examination centre.
The development was revealed by Dr Rosemond Wilson, Head of the Ghana National Office of the West African Examinations Council, during a monitoring visit to the facility.
She indicated that the cases occurred in two separate incidents involving the improper handling and exchange of examination materials during the papers.
In one situation, a set of twins is suspected to have switched answer booklets, with one allegedly writing the exam on behalf of the other. In a separate case, another pair was reportedly found exchanging question papers that had already been worked on.
Dr Wilson noted that investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incidents. She cautioned that any candidate found guilty of wrongdoing could face penalties, including the cancellation of results for the affected subject.
