Awutu Senya East MCE backs probe into healthcare incident

The Municipal Chief Executive for Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly in the Central Region, Seth Banini has extended condolences to families affected by a recent healthcare-related incident in Ewotsonga East, while reaffirming their commitment to ensuring accountability and preventing future occurrences.

Speaking after a visit to the bereaved families, the MCE disclosed that he, together with the Municipal Health Director and other administrative heads, spent time consoling relatives and assuring them of efforts to bring the matter to a conclusive end.

During the visit, the delegation also conveyed messages of sympathy from President John Dramani Mahama and the area’s Member of Parliament, while urging residents to remain calm and maintain confidence in the municipality’s healthcare system.

He revealed that the Regional Health Directorate has constituted a committee made up of medical professionals, legal experts, and other stakeholders to investigate the incident.

The MCE pledged its full support for the process, emphasizing that any individuals found culpable would be held accountable under the law.

He expressed concern over what they described as a worrying rise in cases involving mothers and children, stressing the need for urgent and decisive action to prevent a recurrence.

He also highlighted recent investments in the local health facility, noting that just last month, an anaesthetic machine and other essential medical equipment, including hospital beds, were donated to improve service delivery.

 

He reiterated the Assembly's commitment to strengthening healthcare systems and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents.
