Haruna Iddrisu orders review of BECE question paper distribution
The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has instructed the Ghana Education Service to immediately reassess the system used in transporting examination questions to ensure timely delivery to all centres nationwide.
The directive comes after delays were recorded at the Boako examination centre on Monday, May 4, during the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), affecting 273 candidates from nine schools.
At the time of the Minister’s visit, candidates, supervisors, and invigilators were reportedly still waiting for question papers, even though answer booklets had already been distributed. Other centres had already begun the examination by about 15 minutes.
The situation disrupted the start of the paper for the affected candidates, raising concerns about coordination in the distribution process.
Mr. Iddrisu has asked the GES Director-General to work closely with the West African Examinations Council to urgently review logistics and strengthen the delivery system for examination materials to prevent a repeat of such delays.
