Health Director calls for stronger media partnership to improve public health outcomes
The Acting Greater Accra Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Robert Amesiya, has called for enhanced collaboration between the media and the health sector to help bridge information gaps and improve health outcomes.
He made the call during a media engagement organised by Jhpiego Ghana in partnership with the Ghana Health Service, aimed at training journalists on responsible health promotion.
Dr. Amesiya emphasised that while access to healthcare services is important, it must be complemented by effective public education.
“Access to services alone is not enough; communities must also be well-informed about healthy practices and where to seek care,” he noted.
The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the role of the media in disseminating accurate health information and promoting positive health behaviours among the public.
