SEWA Foundation Ghana president calls for peace ahead of critical elections
As Ghanaians prepare to cast their votes in one of the most pivotal elections in the nation’s history, the President of SEWA Foundation Ghana, Jones Owusu Yeboah, has issued a heartfelt plea for peace and unity.
In a statement released on Monday, December 4, Mr. Yeboah emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens to safeguard Ghana’s stability and protect the future of its children.
"Our beloved Ghana is more than just a piece of land; it is the home of our children and future generations," Mr. Yeboah remarked.
He underscored the high stakes of the election, urging Ghanaians to consider how their decisions and actions would shape the lives of young people for decades to come.
"Conflict and strife affect us all, but it is our children who suffer the most when tempers flare and divisions widen," he added.
Drawing attention to the potentially divisive rhetoric in political discourse, Mr. Yeboah called on Ghanaians to promote harmony and reject the inflammatory language, whether in public debates, on radio, or across social media platforms.
"Let us advocate for peace, making a conscious effort to promote harmony in every dialogue," he stated, urging citizens to remember the broader implications of their words and actions.
Mr. Yeboah shared the harrowing realities SEWA Foundation has observed in conflict zones, highlighting the long-lasting impact of violence on children.
"Their innocence is often overshadowed by the harsh realities of violence and instability," he noted.
"As a nation with a history rich in resilience and unity, we cannot afford to allow our children to bear the consequences of our disagreements."
He called on Ghanaians to reject divisive rhetoric and foster a spirit of camaraderie, reminding voters that the electoral process is an opportunity to choose leaders who prioritize the needs of the vulnerable, particularly children.
"Our collective voice can be a powerful force for good," Mr. Yeboah emphasized.
Concluding his message, Mr. Yeboah appealed to all Ghanaians to embrace peace, kindness, and compassion during this election season.
"Together, let’s make a pledge: to embrace peace, to speak kindness, and to act with compassion," he urged.
He expressed hope that Ghanaians would remain true to the values of unity and resilience that have defined the nation, ensuring that Ghana’s children are shielded from the turmoil of conflict.
