U.S. donates freightliner trucks to Ghana Armed Forces Engineers Training School
The Government of the United States of America has donated three Freightliner trucks to the Engineers Training School of the Ghana Armed Forces to support its operational and training activities.
The vehicles were formally presented by the Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Ghana, Rolf Olson.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, expressed gratitude to the U.S. Government for its continued support in strengthening Ghana’s military capabilities.
He noted that the trucks would enhance the Engineers Regiment’s capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies, disaster relief operations, and national development projects.
The Deputy Minister further highlighted the expanding role of the Ghana Armed Forces in national development, including river dredging and desilting activities, rehabilitation of degraded forest reserves in collaboration with GoldBod, and engineering support for major infrastructure projects such as the Accra–Kumasi Expressway.
He also referenced recent cooperation between Ghana and the United States, including the airlifting of Ghanaian engineers to Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, describing it as evidence of the versatility of the Armed Forces and the strength of bilateral relations.
The donation, he said, underscores the enduring partnership between Ghana and the United States, grounded in shared commitments to peace, stability, and development.
Officials noted that the support is expected to significantly enhance the operational effectiveness of military engineers as they continue to contribute to both security and national development efforts.
