The Ministry of Health has emphasized the importance of consumer health, launching initiatives to empower Ghanaians with accurate health information and involvement in healthcare decisions.

Dr. Hafiz Adam Tahir, Chief Director of the Ministry of Health, highlighted the need for a shared responsibility between government institutions, healthcare providers, and the public to ensure patient safety and quality healthcare.

The Consumer Health Week 2026 aims to bridge the gap in health literacy, promote accountability, and strengthen regulatory frameworks to safeguard the health system.

The government plans to expand community health education, invest in digital health platforms, and support health innovations to achieve universal health coverage.

Dr. Caroline Amissah, Deputy Director of the Ghana Health Service, highlighted the need for individuals to take ownership of their health, citing the role of health literacy, patient engagement, and accountability in healthcare delivery.

The Ghana Health Service aims to strengthen community health education, enhance patient communication, and ensure accessible, trustworthy health services.

The Consumer Health Week theme aligns with the World Health Day theme, emphasizing evidence-based decision-making and science-led health policies.
