Calls grow for retention of Prince Obeng as NPP Greater Accra Regional Organiser
Calls are mounting within the New Patriotic Party for the retention of Prince Obeng as Greater Accra Regional Organiser (GARO) ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Supporters argue that Mr. Obeng’s tenure has been marked by efforts to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures, particularly through capacity-building initiatives for constituency-level organisers.
According to party insiders, his leadership has seen the organisation of training programmes for constituency organisers, including youth organisers, women organisers, and Nasara coordinators, aimed at enhancing mobilisation and campaign effectiveness.
The training sessions are said to have equipped party operatives with skills in voter engagement, coalition building, and campaign strategy execution—areas considered critical for electoral success.
Advocates for his retention also point to the importance of continuity within the party’s organisational structure, noting that Mr. Obeng’s experience and established relationships could provide stability as the party prepares for the 2028 polls.
They argue that maintaining his leadership would allow the party to build on existing structures rather than starting anew.
The push forms part of broader internal discussions within the NPP as it positions itself for the next general election, where it is expected to face the National Democratic Congress.
