The Secretary-General of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Abraham Koomson, has expressed concern over what he describes as the slow pace of prosecutions linked to the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).

Speaking on Ahotor FM on Saturday, April 4, Mr. Koomson said delays in legal proceedings risk undermining public confidence in the government’s commitment to accountability and justice.

He noted that he has been closely monitoring the progress of court cases arising from the ORAL investigations, but is dissatisfied with the rate at which they are being handled.

Mr. Koomson called on the government to take decisive action to address the situation, including reviewing the performance of officials within the Attorney-General’s Department.

He suggested that individuals who may be unwilling or unable to effectively support the prosecution process should be reassigned to ensure greater efficiency.

He further stressed that strengthening internal capacity within the Attorney-General’s Office is critical to fast-tracking prosecutions, even as he commended efforts by the government to engage additional legal experts to support ongoing cases.

The labour leader also raised concerns about possible political bias within some institutions, warning that such factors could hinder progress and complicate the work of prosecutors.

Mr. Koomson emphasised that the success of the ORAL initiative depends on the competence, neutrality, and dedication of those handling the cases, urging authorities to ensure that only qualified and committed personnel are assigned to such critical national responsibilities.
