C/R: MP visits family after maternal death at Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital
Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor has extended condolences to the family of a 27-year-old woman who died at the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital under circumstances alleged to involve medical negligence.
The deceased, Abigail Opoku, is reported to have died after she was denied a Caesarean section during childbirth. Relatives and sections of the public have raised concerns about possible negligence.
Following the incident, the Ghana Health Service has set up a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
During a visit to the bereaved family, the MP described the incident as unfortunate and assured them that the findings of the investigation would be implemented.
She added that steps would be taken to help prevent similar occurrences in the future.
