2026 FIFA WC: Coach Carlos Queiroz names 23-man squad for Black Stars international friendly against Mexico
Coach Carlos Queiroz has announced a 23-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming international friendly against Mexico, scheduled for Friday, May 22, 2026.
The roster features a mix of European-based professionals, domestic league standouts, and U-23 players currently preparing for Olympic Games qualifiers.
Majeed Ashimeru returns to the national team following a long absence due to a muscle injury that had previously restricted his availability for both club and country. He is joined by Felix Afena-Gyan, who earns his first call-up since featuring against Trinidad and Tobago in London last May.
The European contingent is further strengthened by the inclusion of Abdul Aziz Issah of Barcelona B, Ebenezer Annan of AS Saint-Étienne, Ibrahim Osman of Birmingham City, and Paul Reverson of Ajax FC.
Domestic league players are also well-represented, led by midfielder Salim Adams of league leaders Medeama SC.
Other home-based inclusions include Razak Simpson of Nations FC, Ebenezer Abban of Heart of Lions, and Ebenezer Adade of Dreams FC.
The team is expected to travel to Mexico this month for the fixture as the technical team continues to monitor talent across various levels of the game.
