Coach Desmond Ofei's preparations for the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers continued on Friday, August 14, 2026, as the Black Meteors were held to a 2-2 draw by Premier League side Vision FC in a friendly at the University of Ghana (UG) Stadium.

The match gave Ofei another valuable opportunity to assess his squad, experiment with different tactical combinations, and build competitive sharpness ahead of the qualification campaign.

Ghana's U-23 side went ahead with two second-half goals, with Owusu Agyapong finding the net in the 64th minute, followed by Sherrif Alabani in the 70th.

However, the Black Meteors, who finished the match with 10 players, saw their lead slip away as Vision FC fought back, converting two penalties to level the score and share the spoils.

The Black Meteors are preparing for the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to be staged in Egypt in November 2027.

CAF's 2026 competition calendar has pencilled in the U-23 AFCON qualifying rounds for the September and November 2026 FIFA windows, though the precise fixtures remain subject to CAF's official scheduling.
