The Black Princesses, Ghana’s national U-20 women’s football team, have departed Accra for Kampala ahead of their second-leg FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Uganda.

A squad of 23 players and the technical team traveled for the fixture, which is scheduled to take place at the FUFA Stadium in Kidiba on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 4 PM.

Ghana enters the return leg with a 2-1 advantage from the first meeting. The team is currently pursuing its eighth consecutive appearance at the biennial tournament, which will be hosted in Poland.

Before the team’s departure, the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku, visited the camp to offer his encouragement and reaffirm the association’s support.

Addressing the players, President Okraku noted that after months of hard work, the team is one game away from making history and maintaining its record of World Cup qualification.

The president acknowledged the quality of the current squad and expressed confidence in their ability to perform under pressure.

While admitting the upcoming game in Kampala will be challenging, he urged the players to maintain their style of play and give maximum effort to secure the victory.

He emphasised that despite any logistical or on-field challenges, the GFA remains committed to supporting the team through the conclusion of the qualifying campaign.

The Black Princesses will look to protect their aggregate lead as they aim to finalize their place on the global stage.
