Ghana’s national under-17 football team, the Black Starlets, have commenced preparations for their final Group D fixture against South Africa at the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

The team held a recovery training session on Tuesday following their 1-0 defeat to Senegal in their second group match.

The loss means Ghana requires a positive result in their final group match on Wednesday evening to advance in the tournament.

The training session was supervised by Head Coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical team.

The workout was divided into two groups: players who played the majority of the match against Senegal participated in light jogging, stretching, and regeneration drills, while the remaining squad members took part in possession exercises and short tactical routines.

During the match against Senegal, Ghana dominated large stretches of play and created multiple scoring opportunities before conceding a second-half goal.

The Black Starlets also had an early goal disallowed by Video Support Review and failed to convert a penalty kick during the game.

Wednesday's upcoming match against South Africa is critical for the team's tournament survival, as the final standings will determine qualification for the knockout rounds and decide which African teams secure a place at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar later this year.
