The Ghana Football Association, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, will convene a national interdenominational thanksgiving and prayer service on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Set for 3 PM at the All Saints Anglican Church in Adabraka, the event serves as an act of faith, reflection, and national unity.

The gathering will include football administrators, government officials, corporate partners, clergy, and various stakeholders seeking divine guidance for Ghanaian football, specifically for the Black Stars as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.

GFA President and CAF Second Vice-President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku will lead the association's delegation alongside the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams.

Other expected attendees include GFA Executive Council members, GFA staff, government representatives, and sponsors. This service occurs during a productive period for Ghana’s national teams and domestic competitions.

A primary focus will be offering prayers for the Black Stars following their World Cup qualification.

The service will also acknowledge the Black Princesses for securing their eighth consecutive FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualification and seek support for the Black Starlets' campaign in the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Additionally, prayers will cover the Black Maidens' qualification journey for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and offer thanksgiving for the national U-15 Girls team, who recently defended their African Schools Football Championship title in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Beyond international representation, the service will express gratitude for the successful management of domestic leagues, including the Premier League, Women’s Premier League, and Divisions One, Two, and Colts football.

The spiritual proceedings will be led by Rt. Reverend Dr. Daniel Sylvanus Torto, the Anglican Bishop of Accra, who will deliver the sermon. He will be supported by a clergy contingent including Rt. Reverend George K. Neequaye, Very Reverend Samuel Lamptey, Venerable Vincent Attoh, Canon Samuel Offei Ankrah, Reverend Father Isaac Otoo, Reverend Father Ebenezer Petu-Stiles, and Reverend Clement Ani Obeng Jnr.
