Mexico hosts the WAFF Amputee Football World Cup 2026

Ghana’s National Amputee Football Team, the Black Challenge, has officially qualified for the 2026 WAFF Amputee Football World Cup.

The tournament is scheduled to be held in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, from November 13 to November 22, 2026. Ghana joins six other African nations in the expanded 24-team competition, which features elite teams from across the globe.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is collaborating with the National Amputee Football Association of Ghana and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to coordinate preparations for the squad.

Additionally, the GFA has recognized Gold Fields Ghana Limited for its financial support, noting that the partnership is vital for the team’s training and overall competitiveness as they head into the championship.

The 2026 World Cup features a diverse lineup of qualified nations competing for global supremacy:

- Africa: Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria

- Asia: Iran, Iraq, Japan, Uzbekistan

- Europe: England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Turkey

- Americas: Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay

The Black Challenge aims to build upon their continental success as they prepare to face opponents from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas in the upcoming tournament.
