The Black Starlets have arrived in Casablanca to begin final preparations for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Ghanaian delegation, consisting of 21 players and 14 officials, departed Accra on Wednesday morning, May 6, 2026, and completed a five-hour flight to Morocco ahead of the tournament's commencement.

Before their departure, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku met the team at the Accra International Airport to deliver a farewell address.

He urged the players to maintain a resilient mindset, citing their recent friendly series against Ivory Coast — where the team recovered from an initial loss to win the second leg — as evidence of their "never say die" spirit.

President Simeon-Okraku emphasised that mental strength and unity would be essential for success on the continental stage.

He encouraged the squad to remain cohesive during difficult moments in matches and stressed that the ability to respond positively to setbacks would be a decisive factor in the competition.

Ghana has been drawn into Group D, which includes Algeria, Senegal, and South Africa.

The Black Starlets are scheduled to play their opening match on May 14 as they seek to reclaim their position as a dominant force in African youth football.

The technical team will spend the coming days in Morocco fine-tuning tactics and building squad cohesion before the group stage begins in Rabat.
