Otto Addo appointed to FIFA technical study group for 2026 World Cup
Former Black Stars coach Otto Addo has been appointed to the FIFA Technical Study Group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a major milestone in the career of the Ghanaian tactician.
The appointment has been welcomed by the Ga Mantse, Nii Teiko Tsuru II who congratulated Addo on what many have described as a proud achievement for Ghanaian and African football.
FIFA’s Technical Study Group is responsible for providing technical analysis, match observations and strategic insights during the World Cup, helping shape global understanding and development of the game.
Addo’s selection places him among an elite group of football experts tasked with evaluating performances and tactical trends at the expanded 2026 tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States.
The former Ghana coach is widely respected for his tactical knowledge and contributions to Ghana football, particularly during his time with the Black Stars.
His appointment is also being viewed as growing international recognition of African coaching expertise and the increasing role of African professionals in global football development.
Football observers say the latest recognition reflects Addo’s resilience, professionalism and dedication to the sport, while serving as an inspiration to aspiring coaches across the continent.
