Ghana trio relegated as NAC Breda drops from Eredivisie
Ghanaian internationals Andre Ayew, Kamal Sowah, and Denis Odoi have been officially relegated from the Eredivisie following a difficult 2025-26 season with NAC Breda. The club's relegation was mathematically confirmed after 16th-placed FC Volendam played to a 1-1 draw against Excelsior Rotterdam.
The draw brought Volendam to 32 points, making it impossible for NAC Breda, currently at 25 points, to close the gap with only two matches left in the season.
Although NAC Breda’s recent match against SC Heerenveen was abandoned due to crowd disturbances involving fireworks, other league results ensured the club's descent to the Eerste Divisie.
Andre Ayew, who signed with the club as a free agent in January to assist in their survival efforts, recorded one goal in 16 league appearances.
Fellow Ghanaians Kamal Sowah and Denis Odoi were also members of the squad during this campaign, which ends in an immediate return to the Dutch second tier.
